Alpenrose Weekend & Picture Day

This weekend is picture day at Sewallcrest Park as well as our Alpenrose weekend, where most teams will be playing on either Saturday or Sunday at Alpenrose Field, a very nice facility and home of the Little League Softball World Series, where teams from across the globe compete each year.  This is a great opportunity for our players to experience a world-class baseball and softball experience.

Come from behind 5th inning lifts Goblins over Monkeys

Essex Field, Portland, OR

The Green Goblins and the Blue Monkeys (Portland LL A) squared off on Essex Field on April 28th. As the home team, the Blue Monkeys jumped out to a 5-1 lead at the end of the first. But that's when the Green Goblins defense stepped up, allowing only two more runs over the next 4 innings. In the 2nd catcher Will Hannan tagged out a runner coming home. In the 3rd, after a hit to right, Eli Koehler took the relay and threw out the runner going to third, with Aidan O'Brien making the tag. In the 4th Yona Voss-Andrae made a great catch on a drive to left field. Thoughout, 1st baseman Ehman Tanneholz hung on to the ball and made the plays. In the top of the 5th, the Green Goblins took the lead 8-7, and in the bottom of the 5th, things got interesting. Finbar O'Brien walked the first batter, who stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on an error. With nobody out and the tying run on 3rd, Finbar and battery partner Eli Koehler took care of the ball and the rest of the game as they struck out the next three batters to preserve the win.

Minors Baseball Game wrap: Wookies 6, Eagles 3.

Brooklyn Park Field, Portland, OR

It was a hard fought game with the Wookies jumping out to a 5-0 lead as the visiting team.  Another run by the Wookies in the 2nd inning put them at 6-0. The Eagles re-grouped with some solid defense and were able to close them down 1-2-3 in the 3rd and 4th innings.  Eagles were held scoreless until a bottom of the 5th rally in which the Eagles scored 3 runs but were unable to overtake the Wookies before the third out.  Eagles 2-1 going into this weekend's game, and the Wookies remain unbeaten.
