Powell & Portland LL Player Assessments are happening this Sunday, February 23rd, at Franklin HS Gym (5404 SE Woodward)

We were able to obtain an extra hour to help make up for our snow day, so please note the new times for each division.

9:30 50-70 BB and Juniors SB
10:30 majors BB & SB
11:30 OR 12:30 for minors BB & SB

(teeball & farm players do not attend assessments)

Dust off your glove and find your cap, it's time to play ball!

What:

Player assessments are opportunities to get players warmed up and show some basic skills to the managers of the teams at each division. Assessments are an important part of achieving our goal of creating competitively balanced teams.

Who:

All registered players must attend at least one session of assessments (and may attend twice) if they are going into or staying in the following divisions:

Baseball: Minors, Majors and 50/70

Softball: Minors, Majors and Juniors

Tee Ball and Farm Ball Players do not attend assessments.

 

The Details:

Assessments Saturday March 2nd

What: Assessments for Baseball and Softball Players in Minors, Majors and Juniors

When: Saturday, March 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Where: Abernethy Elementary School, 2421 SE Orange, one block north of SE Division and SE 13th Avenue (please check in at the gazebo on the northeast side of the playground).

Who/When: Players Age 8-10 (Minors) from 10:00 to 11:30 am.  Players Age 10-13 (Majors/Juniors) from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  If you can't make these assigned times, please come anytime between 10 and 1.  If you absolutely can't make it, we may schedule a makeup session at a date and time to be determined (depending on the number of players who miss). 

What: Each player should plan to spend about 30 minutes at assessments.  Players will warm up and then rotate through several stations, including hitting, running, ground balls, fly balls and pitching.  

What to Wear: Dress comfortably, wear tennis shoes (no cleats) and bring a glove

Why: Powell Little League uses assessments to determine a player's skill level.  We then use assessments to help assign players to form teams that are competitively balanced.  We do not want assessments to be a stressful event for your kids.  Every kid plays!

• Time to Play Ball!  Opening Day on Saturday, April 6th 9:00am at Sewellcrest Park, 32nd and SE Market St (meet on the blacktop to form parade).

• PLL Needs You!  Volunteer Opportunities Available:  Umpire in Chief, Field Maintenance Coordinator and committee members, Coaches Coordinator, Managers & Coaches for all divisions in baseball and softball.

Assessment Venue Change for Saturday the 25th

Hi all,
The location of the Saturday assessments for Feb 25th has changed to the Cleveland High School football field.  The Sunday assessments will still be held at Sewallcrest Field as planned.  All times remain the same. 

March 3rd assessments will be at the Cleveland High School football field.

As a reminder:

9:30 to 11 am for Baseball ages 7-9

11:30 to 1 pm for Baseball ages 10-12

1 to 2:30 pm for Softball ages 7 and up

T-Ball players need not attend.

Last chance to register in person

We're having our last in-person registration sessions at Burgerville on SE 26th and Powell on Feb 22 and 23 from 6pm to 8pm.  You will still be able to sign up online but if you want to come down and meet with us directly, we'll have volunteers there to get you registered and answer any questions you may have. 

Player assessments begin the weekend of Feb 25th, with the last scheduled assessment set for March 3rd, so you'll definitely want to be registered by then.  Assessment times are set for:

In-person registration for all levels of Powell Little League will take place at Burgerville on SE 26th & SE Powell on January 23rd and February 1st from 6-8pm, then again on Saturday, February 4th, 11am- 1pm .  For those unable to make those times, you can register online.

2012 Fees will be $70 for T-Ball and $85 for Farm Ball, Softball and Minors/Majors Baseball.

To verify age and residency, a copy of the players birth certificate and a recent utility bill at the players residence will need to be submitted. 

Player assessments will take place at Sewallcrest Field on the weekend of February 25th & 26th, and Saturday March 3rd.  (not necessary for T-Ball or players already assigned to a team).
