Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. Players hit a ball off a batting tee. Pitching is not allowed. Rules of the game are modified to to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.
Ages: Players age 4 and 5 as of April 30 of the current season must play Tee Ball. Players age 6 as of April 30 must play Tee Ball if they have not played at least one prior year of Tee Ball. Players age 6 who have played one year of Tee Ball may play either Tee Ball or Farm Ball.
Fees: The League charges $75 to play Tee Ball with a $150 maximum per family. Scholarships are available to families in need. Contact the League President or Player Agent for information on scholarships.
Volunteers: Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introductory level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.
Team Formation: Tee ball teams have approximately 8 to 9 players. The league groups children according to neighborhoods, schools, and parent preferences, while ensuring a relative balance of ages among the teams. We do our best to honor parent preferences, but cannot make any guarantees.
Uniforms: Each player will receive a team hat and shirt. Players are encouraged to wear comfortable pants and shoes.
Equipment: Players are encouraged to bring their own glove to practice and games. The League provides each team with bats, tees, balls and helmets. Players may also bring their own.
Practices: Teams may begin practicing in about mid-March. How often a team practices is up to the manager. Tee Ball teams generally practice about 1 to 2 times per week until the regular season begins in early April. After the regular season begins, Tee Ball teams generally do not have regular practices.
Games: Tee Ball teams play 2 games per week - one at 6:00 pm during the week and one on Saturday. Games are scheduled from early April through mid-June. Games are limited to 1 hour. Games are played at Sunnyside Elementary School. In late March the official schedule will be distributed to parents by their coach.
