What: Assessments for Baseball and Softball Players in Minors, Majors and Juniors

When: Saturday, March 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Where: Abernethy Elementary School, 2421 SE Orange, one block north of SE Division and SE 13th Avenue (please check in at the gazebo on the northeast side of the playground).

Who/When: Players Age 8-10 (Minors) from 10:00 to 11:30 am.  Players Age 10-13 (Majors/Juniors) from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  If you can't make these assigned times, please come anytime between 10 and 1.  If you absolutely can't make it, we may schedule a makeup session at a date and time to be determined (depending on the number of players who miss).

What: Each player should plan to spend about 30 minutes at assessments.  Players will warm up and then rotate through several stations, including hitting, running, ground balls, fly balls and pitching.

What to Wear: Dress comfortably, wear tennis shoes (no cleats) and bring a glove

Why: Powell Little League uses assessments to determine a player's skill level.  We then use assessments to help assign players to form teams that are competitively balanced.  We do not want assessments to be a stressful event for your kids.  Every kid plays!

Registration:  It's not too late!  Please do so online.

Letter from the President

Greeting Members of Powell Little League,

Thank you for your commitment to Powell Little League Baseball and Softball in 2011. Get ready for online and Burgerville registrations starting in early January!

In 2011, all levels of team play were exciting to watch. From the 4 year olds in Tee ball, to the teenagers ready to enter high school play, it was a great year. Powell Little League is showing itself as a contender in the inter-league and tournament play as well, we had several Powell teams placing very well in both our Softball and Baseball leagues. Players of all ages enjoy the excitement of hearing "Play Ball !"

By the new year, this webpage will be updated with great features to help the league along with scheduling, coaching, umpiring and player development. Your board has heard from several players, parents and coaches that they would love to see an investment in league development and we will strive to bring exciting clinics and training to you.

As we gear up for the 2012 season, your newly installed Powell Little League Board pledges our combined commitment to provide a safe and fun environment to our players and the community we serve. Being responsive to requests and taking appropriate action in a timely manner is our goal. Please feel free to contact any of the newly installed board members via the provided e-mail links on the board members page.

As this is a 100% volunteer run league, we can always use your help. From managing and coaching a Powell team, to help with fundraising, picture coordinator, opening ceremonies and help with the field maintenance. We depend on this community to provide a fun, exciting and safe year of both Softball and Baseball to our children and players. Please contact us at powell.littleleague@gmail.com or by voicemail at (503) 496-0202 to ask questions and/or offer your time and skills.

We look forward to both new and familiar faces in 2012.

Happy New Year !
